On Monday 27 February 2017, in an audience granted to Cardinal Angelo Amato SDB, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Pope Francis has authorized that same Congregation to promulgate the following decree: the martyrdom of the Servant of God Titus Zeman, (1915-1969), a Salesian priest.
The Cause of Fr. Zeman – because of martyrdom – does not need a miracle. Consequently, this decree allowed the beatification of Fr. Titus Zeman. For the Catholic Church in Slovakia it is the first beatified Rome-catholic priest martyr from the Communism.
Titus Zeman was beatified on September 30th 2017 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
